The 2016 Area F Latin Convention will be held on February 19 and 20 at Rouse High School. Area F is made up of a number of events including multiple-choice tests on subjects like Latin Grammar, derivatives, mythology, and Roman life, etc. There are also athletic "Olympika" events and team sports, as well as creative and art contests. Area F is an excellent oppurtunity for your students to use some of the Latin knowledge and compete in a fun way. Winners receive ribbons, certificates, and sometimes medals and scholarships! Competiton in JCL Latin events - whether you win or loose - looks very good on scholarships and college applications. WHS has always done very well in the past, and we look forward to doing as well or better in the future with your help.
Certamen players are the only people who need to come on both Friday and Saturday. All others will come only on Saturday morning and may leave as soon as their events are finished, or stay until the awards ceremony and 4PM. Each students is responsible for transportation and lunch. Dress is casual. Visit competiton website for more information here.
Certamen Players Only:
WHS will have a brief practice from 4:00 - 4:30. After that, team will eat dinner at a place to be determined. Parents are also invited to attend! Students will also have to bring their own money for this. After dinner, we will go to Rouse High School at 6:00. If you're not eating with the team, you will also need to be at Rouse by 6.
